Family is the very basic unit of any society. Through families values of society are transferred from one generation to another. Generally, there are two type of families one is, ‘joint family’ and second is, ‘nuclear family’. But we see that the trend is towards the nuclear family due to industrialization and forces of modernization. But in India, by the large ‘joint families’ system operates in most parts of the country.
Joint family is that system in which parents along with their children and children’s children live. But in nuclear families only the parents along with their children live. In joint family grandparents did not feel loneliness. Children used to learn a lot from stories. Individual shocks and depressions were managed well. And many things learn from it.
Industrialization and the forces of modernization gave serious sudden violent movement to joint family system people started to moving urban areas because of good education and better jobs. Nuclear families have become the nececity as jobs are the requirement and needs of the people as a result earning members leave the parent house and live where they work their children. the nature functions of nuclear families are different from joint families. As per my idea joint family is the best way to live. Because we know everyday new thing and we learn lot by our own members.
In western country, also the trend is towards nuclear families as the children at very young stage are encouraged to choose their professions and became independent. This can be seen in metropolitan cities with most of people in India. But it has its own problems too. We can see that now a days the problem of drug abuse, teenage, pregnancies, and many other things happens. Which is not good for society. And such thing happens because of western type of living. Because of proper guidance and use of western culture all thing occurs in society.
But in recent years, the trend is again towards joint families. Though the structure and form is diefrent. Quite often parents and relatives love and stay with their children at working places. As we know that now a days, the living especially the rent in metro is so expensive that brothers or cousins stay in one house and hence able to feel the togetherness.
There has been considerable change in idea of family as change and more and more people are becoming individualistic and selfcentred due to greed and culture, but the need for family has been felt at the same time. As for me family teaches love and compassion. Family is the basic unit of education and morality.
It is the first and most important learning center for children. good values can be instilled in the family itself, which is the in today’s increasing and disorder society.
We can see that today day by day new evils occurs which is done by men. It is also grow from family. Because you learn everything from your family. Whatever you do, you learnt it from your family. So, if we want to stop the evils from our society, we have to become our family healthy. I think that whatever you do, is the mirror of your family. So, we live in that type of family which becomes us a good human being. From where we learn lot of good think.
